Thanksgiving and other crazy life things...

Thanksgiving week was one heck of a week. Did everyone make it through it all? I did! A little scared but will heal. Thanksgiving time is suppose to be about giving Thanks and spending time with family. Not family saying rude things to either one person or people. Makes me not want to leave my house! But, we have to learn to be a better person and move on.

When did it happen that Thanksgiving is also when you choose name for Christmas gifts and then upset when you ask someone what they want for Christmas. All you can come up with is,, a gift card.  Which isn't bad, but what happened to buy a gift for the person because you want to. Not that "here is a list and please choose from the list". I remember a time when gift giving was so much fun, not its just another chore. Ok, call me Mrs. Grinch!

Our kid has gone back to college, it was nice to see a glance of him.  I guess, when you hit college age you don't want to hang out with dear old mom and dad! But, I do get to spend time with him during Christmas break. At least I hope so!

In case you didn't know, our house has gotten a kitten. Her name is Link, and boy is she a handful. I have never had a cat that is so hard headed as she is. She doesn't listen, she plays fishy games on the Ipad, and she loves to torment the other cats.  But she is a cutie. Here she is playing her game.

Winter Days

So winter is upon us. What should we do to keep warm and cozy? Me, I love curling up on the couch with either a great movie or a good book. With the fireplace going and some hot chili. Only thing that can make it better is snuggling up with my husband.

Well right now I am currently reading a great cozy mystery book. It's by Virginia Lowell. But every time I read it, I want a cookie. I probably have said this in another blog, but it's worth saying it again.
Here is one of my dogs, his name is Coco. See that is what cozy! Right now I wish I can take a nap like him.

Either tomorrow or Friday, I will do another product review! What would you like me to review?

Ipsy Bag

How many people have a inscription to Ispy Bag? I know, so many people are doing it, but why not sign up for with a company that sends out full size makeup for people to try at a fraction price. If I remember right it's $10 month plus shipping. Not bad at all when you get between 5-6 products.  All thought I don't usually write about products on here, but I figure heck why not.  This month there were  an eye shadow, lip crayon, mascara, nail polish, eyeliner, and a bronzer. Now I haven't tried all the products, I have tried the lip balm.

The lip crayon is made by Be a Bomshell company, in Shameless color. Which is a  burgundy color with shimmer. Which is a great color for someone who is around 40ish, like me. It went on great, smooth, the lip crayon didn't run or smear. But the only complaint I have is the smell. It smells like a band-aid. Yep, that smell, you know how you unwrap a band-aid and you have that smell.  Although the smell doesn't last all that long, it does come back when you rub your lips together. And for the retail price of $14 , it's not worth the smell. You can buy Revlon lip balm for 1/2 the price and have no smell.

So for a cozy meal tonight...

I am all for cooking, especially if it is kind easy. With my husband coming home late most nights, it's not easy to make fancy meals quickly. So I rely on comfort and easy or Cozy meals!  Since the weather is changing here in the state of Illinois.  So, I rely on old new crock-pot! Who doesn't love crock-pot meals? Right?

So tonight I mead Apple Bourbon BBQ Pork, using Campbell's Slow Cooker Sauce. I found this just this past Friday at the store. I thought "oh cool, that would be great this weekend". Well, it's ok. I do agree with some other people that is was kind of bland. So , what does a Southern Gal to do,,, I doctor it up. I wished I could tell you what I used to doctor it with, but I have a habit of just putting things in there and not really writing it down so I can use it again.

It comes down to this, will I use this product again? Sorry to say this Campbell's, but no. I will have to pass on it.

What is Southern Cozy?

It's a place where I can share things that I love. Like cozy mystery books, cozy quilts and warm cozy food. I am always posting on Facebook and on Goodreads about food , books and quilts. So my husband said "hey, why don't you use a blog?". I thought he was crazy, but he may have a point. Why not have everything in one place?
